Diamonds and precious metals (white, rose, yellow gold and platinum) must be looked after very carefully. Precious metals can scratch which is why you might need to re-plate your jewelry in time or have it professionally polished. Diamonds should never scratch or chip because they are the hardest substance on earth, but that does not mean they are indestructible. If they are hit with extreme force or by a similar substance, they can chip or scratch but it would take extreme force and be seen as rough use.
Never use any abrasive cleaner on your stone. Soak in boiled water containing a very small amount of gentle dish soap to loosen any dirt, use an extremely soft toothbrush to clean inside crevices. Finally, rinse with clean water.
Store your jewelry carefully in the box it arrived in, to keep it out of harm’s way.
